Sacrewell Farm

Summary

If your kids like animals, and soft play then they will love Sacrewell. Ironically my own history with the place is chequered with a ‘near death’ experience when I was 8 or 9. Foolishly turning my back to a shire horse, the munching mare chomped down on my shoulder and lifted me clean off the ground. Ok so it wasn’t exactly near death but it did manage to rip a hole in my classic purple Ellesse shell suit. It haunts me to this day.

Anywho there are no shire horses anymore (I don’t know if I’m to blame but if so, sorry!), but there is so much to do and enjoy you could easily fill a day at Sacrewell.

Things to do

  • See the animals Being a farm, it would be a bit naff if it didn’t contain any animals, but be not disappointed it has all your classic farmyard friends from pigs to sheep, goats to peacocks. And do those peacocks love a child’s picnic! They cornered us in a pincer movement once and wouldn’t leave till we gave them half a cheese roll. I had bacon in mine but no way was that being sacrificed…
  • Kids indoor soft play area The other main attraction of Sacrewell has to be the brilliant soft play. It’s massive, is really well spaced out, has an slide which I use my kids as an excuse to ride each time we go AND even has a cafe selling inordinately priced drinks for you to enjoy whilst watching your pride and joy. With cars to ride on, and plenty to explore there’s no reason you couldn’t spend several hours in here alone.
  • Outdoor play park As with all family friendly attractions Sacrewell has an outdoor play area for the kids. It’s not massive but the kids will enjoy it along with the small maze to get lost in. And while they’re in there why not grab yourself a brew!?
  • Camp site There is a camp site where you can camp… I live 20 mins away so I have no desire to give up my lovely mattress and central heating to experience it but I’m sure it contains a grass area, canvass and that ‘should I/shouldn’t I?’ dilemma of needing the loo in the middle of the night.
  • Water Mill and House If you’re into Mills then I have to tell you Water Mill it is! (sorry). There’s even a small museum detailing the history of the place and as a sucker for any information board it had me hooked.

2 Good / 2 Bad

My Dadventure rating

Sacrewell is a great day out, the combination of animals and great soft play will delight little people all day long.
